Issue 54 More Clematis Cultivars — Group A

There are so many clematis that it didn't seem fair to leave you with just the few cultivars that we talked about in "Clematis" in Garden Gate magazine. So I put a list together of some more of my favorite clematis cultivars and species.

In the article, I grouped them by their pruning group, so that's how I'll divide them here.

'Continuity' 8 to 9 / 9 to 1 7 ft. Tall, 2-in., single, pale-pink flowers; early to late summer
'Fragrant Spring' 7 to 9 / 9 to 1 20 to 30 ft. Saucer-shaped; fragrant; light pink-mauve flowers mid- to late spring; bronze foliage
'G. Steffner' 3 to 9 / 9 to 1 12 ft. Two-tone flowers of violet petals with cream centers; 4-in., nodding flowers; early to late spring
'Gothenburg' 7 to 9 /9 to 1 20 ft. Montana cultivar; single, creamy pink, 2-in. flowers late spring to early summer; dark-green leaves with a silver streak down the center
'White Moth' 3 to 9 /9 to 1 6 ft. 1-in., nodding, white flowers early to midspring
'Willy' 3 to 9 / 9 to 1 10 ft. Single, nodding, pale-pink flowers; mid- to late spring; sometimes a few blooms in late summer
